A musical journey through swedish history and tradition
I bring Sweden’s rich cultural and musical history to life through playful storytelling, light dramatizations, and plenty of live music. Currently, I offer two engaging experiences:
1) 1000 Years of Swedish History
Travel through a millennium of Swedish culture and music — from Viking times to the present day — with musical highlights from every era. This is a warm and light-hearted experience, featuring sing-alongs of beloved Swedish songs and even a chance to try some traditional folk dancing. We finish off with a classic Swedish herring lunch, complete with festive drinking songs.
2) Swedish Traditions from Midwinter to Midsummer
Join me on a musical and theatrical journey through a year in Sweden, filled with curious and charming celebrations. Discover the stories behind semla buns, Easter witches, Lucia processions, and Midsummer magic. Along the way, there’s singing, storytelling, dancing, and audience participation — all topped off with the most Swedish tradition of all: coffee and cinnamon buns.
About me
My name is Liv Stenström, and I’m the person behind Livsklang. I’m 47 years old and live in Uppsala.
After many years as a church musician, trained educator, and freelance singer in the concert and theatre world, I’ve chosen to combine my skills in a new and freer context.
In my music-making, I blend a light-hearted tone with a spiritual touch that allows me to connect with and move people in both the hardest and happiest moments of life.
My mission is to make music accessible to everyone. I’m used to – and good at – helping those afraid to sing find their voice, as well as guiding more experienced singers to discover new depths. I want to break the idea that music should only be performed by those who “know how to do it.”
My offer ranges from solo singing and choir leading to playful explorations of Swedish music history, voice lessons, and team-building sessions.
